With more teams than in the past, regular season games were played to only 11 points, similar to that of the World Championship. Of the 30 teams, 12 qualified for the playoffs, with the top four receiving a "bye" for the first round of the playoffs. The top seed and also current World Champs was Sole Survivors (Eric Klavoon & Steve Wojcik), who finished the regular season at 26-4. Newcomers "Little Lebowski Urban Achievers," consisting of Mark Stein and Jackson Trinh, landed the 2nd seed at 25-5. The other bye teams were also familiar faces, namely Dorkus Malorkus at 24-6 for the #3 seed and Team Rebels (Dan Klavoon & Brian Licht) at 22-8 for the #4 seed.

The Quarter-finals featured some really good matchups and close games. The #2 and #3 seeds, Little Lebowski Urban Achievers and Dorkus Malorkus, won their respective matches, sweeping both their counterparts to move into the Semi-finals. In the most surprising upset, Formidable Baby Crushers defeated the #1 seed, Sole Survivors, 4 games to 3. After F.Baby Crushers took an early 2-0 lead in the series, Sole Survivors rebounded to force a game 7, where they eventually fell in triple overtime. In the other series, Slackers upset the #4 seed, Team Rebels, sweeping the series 4 games to 0, eliminating Team Rebels for the second Winter Klassic in a row.

After defeating the number one seed, Formidable Baby Crushers could not match with that of Little Lebowski Urban Achievers, who continued their dominance into the Semi-finals, winning the series 4 games to 2 and advancing to the finals. Dorkus Malorkus played Slackers, and took an early series lead 3 games to none. In game 4, Kim Daugherty threw a much needed instant win after Dorkus closed out, but Dorkus went on to win game 5 to advance to the finals for the 4th straight Winter Klassic.
The finals featured the new #1 seed Little Lebowski Urban Achievers against Dorkus Malorkus. In a good match with many highlights, Dorkus went on to win the series 4 games to 1 to win their second straight Winter title and third overall.
This year's tournament raised over $300 for Carly's Club and was held in coordination with the Kenan Center's 2008 "Winter Fest." Thanks to all participating teams and the Kenan Center for making this annual event a huge success.
